My name is Mitch Franklin and I’m the Owner / Operator of Kailua Family Handyman. This business became a reality in late 2022 as I’ve always dreamed of turning my passion for home improvement and maintenance into a profession.
I know first hand the wear and tear a family exerts on a home as well as the frustration when something in your home doesn’t work the way you need it to. It’s my goal to provide the highest quality of home services to my community and neighbors while delivering feelings of happiness, pride, and relief when a space is restored just the way you like it. I am committed to customer satisfaction and will stand behind my work so you can relax and truly enjoy making memories at home with your family knowing the work was done right and will last.
Having a family of four, a son in elementary school and a daughter in intermediate school, I have been fixing everything from cabinet doors being used as gymnastic apparatus to toys going through drywall for 12 years now. Renovating the two houses we owned by updating every square inch from minor repairs to major remodels is where I learned that home improvement and repair is how I wanted to spend my day. I get so much satisfaction helping homes function their best knowing that families are supported and comfortable in their space.
My wife Kim and I moved our family from the San Francisco Bay area to Kailua in 2019 to enjoy a slower pace of life and work-life balance that allows us to spend more quality time with our kids. We love the focus on family, life and nature here in Kailua and have happily made this community our permanent home. We enjoy spending time with our amazing ohana of friends exploring the incredible hiking, kayaking, and surfing here. We’re eager to continue developing relationships in this community and helping people live more comfortably when enjoying their homes.
This bio wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t mention that I’m originally from Cleveland, OH and have always been a passionate Browns football fan despite the team being mostly known to the public solely as a “Factory of Sadness” over the last 50+ years. I also love to tee it up on the golf course whenever an opportunity presents itself.

With years of hands-on experience managing and maintaining diverse facilities, I take pride in creating and caring for spaces that support comfort, functionality, and well-being. My background as a property director at a camp and retreat center, combined with managing and providing education on multiple small-scale organic farms, has given me a deep appreciation for hard work, craftsmanship, and the value of a well-kept environment.
